HOW TO FIND THE MOST QUALIFIED CAR MECHANIC?

As a car owner it is obvious that you will require a mechanic from time to time. It is crucial to find a qualified car mechanic in order to make sure that you get top notch services in your car. It goes without saying that you will find many localized mechanics operating in car mechanic shops. Not all of them are qualified, and therefore, they might not service or repair your car properly. It is necessary to hire the qualified car mechanic because they are experienced, certified and they know the updates of the different company car models. So they can easily incorporate with the latest car models and they can repair it accordingly.

Tune Ups

How Often your car needs a Tune Up varies from one vehicle to another. Most older vehicles with non-electronic ignitions should be tuned every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometres s or every year, whichever comes first.
Newer cars with electronic ignition and fuel injection systems are scheduled to go from 25,000 to as many as 100,000 kilometres without needing a major tune-up.
Refer to your owner’s manual for recommended tune-up intervals, but be aware that even if it says that the vehicle doesn’t require scheduled tune-ups very often, it’s in your best interest to check periodically that your vehicle is working at peak efficiency.
Here are a couple of symptoms that tell you that your electronic ignition system may need to be tuned or adjusted:
– The car stalls a lot. The spark plugs may be fouled or worn, the gap between the spark plug electrodes may need adjusting, or an electronic sensing device may need to be adjusted. If you’re having trouble pinpointing why your vehicle is stalling, you can help your automotive technician diagnose the problem by paying attention to whether the engine stalls when it’s hot or cold or when the air conditioner is on.
– The engine is running roughly when idling or when you accelerate. Chances are the vehicle needs a tune-up.
– The car gets harder to start. The problem can be in the starting system (for example, a weak battery), in the fuel system (for example, a weak fuel pump), or in the ignition system, or can be due to a faulty electronic component, such as the electronic control unit.

Your Mechanic

Unfortunately, not all professional mechanics and repair center owner/operators are created equal. It’s very easy for your mechanic to be misleading, or downright dishonest, with you about your vehicle’s repair needs. After all, they’re the experts you’re trusting one of your most expensive, and least understood, possessions to. With a charming smile, a personable attitude, and a sense of camaraderie, they can, and will, take advantage of your confidence.

I’ve seen this happen too many times in the industry I love. I’ve heard too many stories from disgruntled customers, treated poorly at the hands of an unscrupulous mechanic. So, I’ve decided to break the “code of silence” that exists in the field of mechanical repair. Here are five things your mechanic doesn’t want you to know.

Rio Vista Auto Repair

Almost everyone that drives a vehicle has had an issue with the dreaded check engine light. It doesn’t give you any clues about why you need to check the engine, just that you need to do so. When the check engine light comes on, there is always at least one DTC, or Diagnostic Trouble Code, that gets recorded. Your mechanic will look at the DTC(s) and then give you a repair estimate based on that. Even if they tell you what the name of the DTC is, it’s very likely it won’t mean anything to you. There is a little known fact that the entire automotive repair industry doesn’t want you to know: you don’t need to have costly repairs done every time the check engine light comes on. There are a decent number of these DTCs that don’t require any repairs. That system has detected a failure, but it’s not going to cause you any problems to keep operating your vehicle. You won’t damage any of the systems, and you won’t lose any gas mileage. The only one to lose is the repair industry. There are several websites that can help with this, such as mycheckenginelight.net, that are a great help in determining what repairs you actually need to have done.Almost everyone that drives a vehicle has had an issue with the dreaded check engine light.
